Concept
As a UK based ultra-distance trail and fell runner, I was faced with the following scenario:
I wish to train for the Bob Graham Round. How much of the course have I already completed (recce runs) and what local trails offer me a similar level of ascent and descent per mile?
From this simple scenario, the concept of Trail Tracker was born.
A further requirement shortly followed:
Whilst I'm out training on the fells, is there a link I can give my friends and family in order that, if it all goes horribly wrong, they can provide my last known location and intended route to the emergency services (without hoovering the battery on my somewhat modest, and not entirely waterproof handset)?
Live tracking coming soon!
Disclaimer
Please be considerate when parking, following trails and/or making noise at unsociable hours.
Please observe all signs and rights of way when following trails.
Please note that just because a trail is named "Ambridge Circular Epic 50k Official Race Route" it does not guarantee that the route:
- takes place on public rights of way and does not cross private or hazardous land
- is epic
- is circular
- is 50k
- is anywhere near Ambridge
- is official
- is correct for any supposed race
Please be aware that trail running, hill walking, and other such outdoor pursuits can be hazardous and, in extreme cases, result in personal injury or death. Please ensure that you take reasonable precautions and carry appropriate kit at all times. As a minimum, should it all go horribly wrong, you should be confident that you can stay warm and dry for several hours until help becomes available.
We are in no way responsible for your safety.
